Mie Prefecture is best known for the scenic Ise Shima region. Located on the East side of the Kii peninsula, Mie faces the Pacific Ocean and has a notably warm climate. One can explore the Iseji route of the Kumano Ancient Road, which has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural asset and crosses through Mie. This is an invaluable experience for any international students thinking of coming to Japan. Mie also has sister state relationships with São Paulo in Brazil, Henan in China, Valencia in Spain, and the Republic of Palau. Each of these relationships has been in place for more than 10 years, bringing with them a long history of international exchange in Mie.
