Tokushima Prefecture is home to an event called the Awa Dance Festival, which is famous throughout Japan. The Awa Dance is just one of the many Japanese traditions that continue to be celebrated in Tokushima to this day. International students are welcome to join in these traditions, such as pilgrimages to a series of many Buddhist temples. On the other hand, Tokushima is also well-known for its extensive production of LED lights, and the inventor of the blue-light LED and recipient of the Nobel prize in physics is a native of Tokushima. International students can experience this blending of traditional culture with modern technology only in Tokushima.
